Tree on Bayshore Drive saved; Botanical Garden to the rescue » Naples Daily News
A former mentor, Jack Lieber, planted many of these trees in the 1980's, along U.S. 41 in the Pelican Bay Buffer (indeed, one comment cites the Vineyards as another location, and I know he designed some plantings there), where the flower show can be seen in the spring. This is a great story of the Bayshore Community preserving its Sense of Place, Diversity, and a show of Stewardship by the Naples Botanical Garden of its mission for such Preservation within the local Community (in addition to some specimen Gumbo Limbos, which found a home there a few years ago).
